What's in a name? the remix

My second pregnancy has almost come to an end. Here I am at the top of the ninth. And as of last Wednesday Daniel and I had no names for this coming baby. Really none. So we took a suggestion from my friend Jolie who's life path echos mine. At her mother's suggestion, she went out to dinner with her partner and with no distractions came up with a list of names.
So last Thursday after Joaquin was in bed and my friend and neighbor Erin was at the dining room table, Daniel and I went out for Japanese food. I brought along a lovely book called "What shall we name the baby?" published in 1935. The result is a list of boy and girl names since the gender of this coming pup is unknown.
Here are some of the parameters for names we will choose. It must sound good with Joaquin. It must be pronounceable in French and Spanish. No last name first names. Which are your favorites?

Boys Names
Javier
Sebastian
Matias
Mateo
Francisco
Enzo*
Andres*

Girl Names

Alma
Calista
Catalina
Celeste
Celestina
Mirabelle
Nora
Simone
Raquel
*middle name choices

And here are two recent pregnancy pictures.

Melissa's top 3(s), with commentary

Boys
Sebastian Sherwood- hello rockstar
Mateo-good for spanish/french/and english
Javier-no nerd has ever been named Javier

Girls
Nora (Nora+Nico=sounds good together for when they get married)
Simone Sherwood- again, hello rockstar
Alma-beautiful and great meaning

all the names are are good options. Kevin and I did not have a boys name we agreed on before N's birth.
We really feel that he told us/his name inhabited the space somehow during our first 24 hours of delirious joy together. We did have a list however, that helped.

As one with an unusual name, i always like a name with imagination so my choices are Sebastian or Matias for a boy and Catalina or Mirabelle for a girl. Btw you look so wonderful pregnant!!!

Such great names! You can't go wrong. But if if votes are being taken, I know a lovely Catalina - Cata for short. She'd be a very worthwhile namesake.

I really like them all but my faves are
Nora
Simone
Raquel
Javier
Sebastian and
Matias.
Luckily there are no awful ones where we have to stop you from making a really horrible mistake!

Claudita,
They are great names, all of them. If it is a grandson my top choices would be:
1. Javier
2. Mateo/Matias
I think it would be nice have Enzo as a middle name in honour of his great grandfather. Also you could use Bernardo as a middle name.

if a grandaughter,
1. Alma is my favourite.
2. Raquel (old Testament and Raquels are strong and wise)
3. Celeste (a girl would be heaven-sent)

Simone!!!! I also like Catalina (simone catalina?). Alma is phonetically (sp?) a little too sweet and not
enough oomph. A girl needs more strength in her name.

Boys - sebastian or andres.

And scrolling through your posts made me miss you guys so much!! Such a beautiful family. I hope one day I'm as lucky! I am buying my tickets for CA tomorrow.

(Also battling insomnia due to benchmarking program-launch and impending tax day stress so yes I am posting at 4:00 am...haha)

I forgot to mention: Raquel is my all-time favorite. I agree with Clara it has more "oomph"-- and the best nickname ever if she wants it.

Nora!!! I really love the name Nora, and am jealous of my sister. And I agree Simone Sherwood sounds awesome - I really like alliterated names, and I've always liked the name Simone. But I think I might like Catalina best - as Cloe points it out, it's nice and unusual, and it rolls off the tongue so beautifully.

For a boy, I think Javier is lovely - Javi is such a cute nickname. I love Sebastian and Mateo, too - for some reason Mateo sounds to me like a person you'd really want to know.
